I’m delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for ‘Best Candidate Experience’ and ‘Business Leader of the Year‘ at the 10th annual Institute of Recruitment Professionals Awards.

The IRP Awards mean so much to our business. For a start winning an IRP Award is the most impressive recognition an individual can achieve within the recruitment industry and for those of you that don’t know – I won ‘Best Client and Candidate Experience’ back in 2013. For me personally it was a lifetime achievement as a Consultant and everything that I ever aspired to be. Winning the award was everything I ever wanted and it gave the confidence to open my own consultancy.

We are often considered to be a small, family firm and we don’t mind that at all. I am proud that we are family owned and I am proud that we still have the same values and outlook as the day we opened. Last year we went back to the IRP Awards – as a small, family firm and mingled with some of the biggest players in our industry – in fact we shared a table with Ricky Martin, winner of The Apprentice (series 8) and owner of Hyper Recruitment Solutions. I would be fibbing if I was to say that I felt comfortable on the evening, I absolutely didn’t and had told my Mum on numerous occasions that it was ‘just an honour to be there’ and to ‘not get excited’.

Winning ‘Best Candidate Experience’ last year was the cherry on the cake for us and that is because we pride ourselves on providing the highest levels of candidate care. It was my main priority when I opened Rafferty resourcing and a reputation I was desperate to have. I never thought that award would be mine again, but finally I had a trophy of my very own with my company name on it. What made it more special was that I was able to share this moment with the people that love me the most – my family. The people that ‘really’ care about my successes, the ones that have been by my side through thick and thin – it was magical.

The win last year raised the Rafferty profile and as a result our business has grown significantly. We saw a big rise in temporary recruitment and were approached by multiple new clients that had heard about our recognition.

This year it’s the 10th Annual Awards and I will be there once more with my family. Win or no win the fact that our business has been shortlisted again is amazing and that is all down to the wonderful people that we work with on a daily basis – our candidates. Without your skills we wouldn’t have a business and without your kinds words, testimonials and feedback we wouldn’t be considered for an award such as this, thank you very much.

Thank you to all the businesses that put their trust in us to find them the right people – recruitment is an investment and as a small business we absolutely get that. It is a pleasure to work with you all.

Lastly, thank you to the IRP and REC. They say Jobs Transform Lives (and they do), but the last 10 years of the Awards have transformed mine.
